Medical students launch #LiveableNHSBursary campaign

A viral Twitter campaign has highlighted the difficulties fifth and sixth year medical students face in coping with the cost of living due to a lack of funding from Student Finance England.

Medical students across the UK have joined together on Twitter to share stories of burn out and dire financial circumstances with the hashtag #LiveableNHSBursary. An unsustainable mix of multiple part-time jobs, frantic unpaid placements, study, exams, and rising living costs is slowly pushing more potential

"Burnt out before you're qualified": Life as a nursing student

“Last week I had to choose between petrol or groceries for my family. I don’t think anyone thinks that they are signing up for that when they apply for a nursing degree”. The game was decided in the final seconds of the first half, when wide receiver Max Simmons came down with an improbable catch in the corner of the endzone. With six seconds before half time, the Tyrants needed something special to avoid going into the break behind. Sandwiched between two defenders, Simmons launched hi

'No-No-No': Manchester's Christmas markets are back - The Mancunion

‘Tis the season for overpriced pints, mile-long Croissant queues, and crowded streets; the Manchester Christmas markets are back, but my heart must be two sizes too small because they make me nothing but miserable.

I am no Scrooge. My love for Christmas and all things festive is up there with the best of them. As soon as the first door of the advent calendar is open, the tree is up, the Christmas playlist is on, and my December is filled with Mr Bublé’s buttery voice.

2023 is the 25th year of
